Richard Tan, 29, blogger of vinyarb.com/blog was pleasantly suprised when he received a call from SPH - informing him that his blog has been nominated for SPH Top Ten most popular blogs in Singapore

Joy turned to ~~nabay what the fuck!~~ frustation when he realised his blog was inaccessible that same afternoon.

Despite several attempts to contact his hosting company, 3iX, Richard has not received any reply.

He did a quick search on the internet and realised that there were several bloggers who were equally frustrated at 3iX.

"I was initially worried that my website had been hacked. And also thought humorously for a moment that perhaps the site had gone down after SPH's nomination for Top Ten Most Popular Blog in Singapore due to intense traffic.", Richard said.

As such, he is currently looking for a fix to the problem. But not to worry, vinyarb.com/blog will be back up shortly.

In the meantime, please enjoy his posts in his previous incarnation.

I've been gone from xanga for so long, that when I logged back on, it took me ages to figure out how to create a new post!

Yes, the main site is still under construction, and I have a sneaky feeling that most of the site will remain that way for some time still... but the blog has been up and running, and i've been trying to update at least once every other day, so hop on over and see what the brand new vinyarb has to offer la!

According to our learned, wise and powerful government (who can do no wrong, and whose recent security breach allowing a top terrorist to escape was unfortunate but not to be blamed on them), Mr. Selamat is still hiding somewhere in the bushes off MacRitchie, or maybe Bedok Reservoir.

But, according to The Star in Msia, he may already have escaped to nearby Indonesian islands.

"Regional security sources believe Mas Selamat, who escaped from the Whitley Road Detention Centre in Singapore on Wednesday, had already made his way to a cluster of Indonesian islands, some 45 minutes by speedboat from Singapore."

How come nobody told our government he is no longer in Singapore?

Why the huge disparity in reports? Aren't they all supposed to team up to look for him?

2012: where will YOU hide?

Just today, I found out that our world may end (or we may gain enlightenment, depending on which camp you're on) somewhere in Dec of 2012.

Of course, we've been preparing for that, and even had a dry run with the Y2K postulation.

But this 2012 shit seems the real deal. Just google 2012, and look at the number of hits you get. (242 million, if you're really that lazy) Coincidentally, the Mayan calendar, a date counting device by the mayan civilisation - long considered one of the most advanced ancient civilisations, also ends on 2012.

Their calendar began August 11, 3114BC. So why end on 2012? Did they simply run out of calculations, or was it a sign of something more sinister and deadly to come, that they knew that counting beyond that date was going to be an excercise in futility?

Theories

- Some believe that come 2012, the Earth, together with its occupants, will experience a shift in sensory awareness, and climb the evolutionary ladder by a rung, and have a greater shift in being. We will all gain nirvana, no longer require material nourishment, nor sex (what?!).

- Yet others believe that the Earth will be shattered by a series of natural calamities, a result of brewing activities between the Sun and other natural alignments (sunspots, loss of gravitational centre causing massive earthquakes and tsunamis and whatnot), and that everyone on Earth will be wiped out.

- A 3rd group conveniently combined the 2 theories, stating that we as a people, will gain nirvana just before Earth gets wiped out, and hence be saved by other-worldly beings that have been looking down on us (the very same beings that taught the mayans not to count beyond 2012).

Conclusion

With more than 200 million webpages dedicated to this single year, am I worried? Fuck yes!

With the end now imminent, where do we hide? Hmmm... historical research (hollywood movies) have shown that prominent cities usually gets their asses whupped. So New York City, Washington DC, Manhatten, Paris, Tokyo, Shanghai, Beijing and other parts of Asia are out.

The US president usually has a 50% mortality rate, so it would be wise to steer clear of him/her. (especially in cases where the President is Black, Earth always gets it worse.)

A few places me and a friend thinks safe are:
- Angkor Wat (seldom demolished in movies, plus situated away from hot zones like Manhatten)
- Iceland (too cold for aliens. Also previously untouched by disaster movies)
- Greenland (See Iceland)
- American states that have no recognisable structures for destruction (Oklahoma, Wyoming, Tenessee,Kansas etc)

Just reading some of his quotes from a statement he released when he was back in HK, one would have thought (if one didn't already know about the news) that he had unwittingly let loose a killer virus that turned human into rabid creatures that maimed other animals and then burned to ashes in the sun.
